How an Australian cold-chain packaging maker tripled its top-10 Google rankings

An Australian maker of cold-chain packaging has more than tripled its top-10 Google rankings since SEOValley expanded its monthly SEO programme in October 2024, from 227 keywords to 702, the highest the site has ever recorded. AI answers in Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity and ChatGPT now link to its pages 293 times.

RESULTS AT A GLANCE

The manufacturer now ranks in Google’s top 10 in Australia for 702 keywords, up 209% in two years, and Google’s AI Overviews link to its product pages for 217 different searches.

THE CHALLENGE

The client is an established Australian manufacturer of temperature-controlled products: gel ice packs, dry ice packs, insulated liners and bags, and instant hot and cold packs. It sells to food, logistics, pharmaceutical, medical and sports buyers right across Australia.

The client has worked with SEOValley since 2021. By October 2024 its core product terms held strong positions, but overall visibility had stalled: 227 keywords in Google’s top 10, slightly fewer than a year earlier. Product searches such as “ice packs” and “gel packs” are crowded with large retailers and marketplaces, and more buyers now get their answer from an AI summary before they click anything.

The goal was to rank for far more of the searches buyers make, from bulk shipping packs to first-aid cold packs, and to become a source that AI answers quote and link to.

WHAT WE DID

From October 2024 we expanded the monthly programme, with every task logged and reported each month.

  1. Search Console review and on-site fixes. Search Console and site reviews, with page issues passed to our developer to fix, and a product schema problem that was showing the wrong images in search results flagged with a fix.
  2. Re-optimised target and supporting pages. A re-optimisation of the target pages based on what was ranking in the search results, unique meta tags for the pages that had none, and suggested FAQs with FAQ schema for internal pages.
  3. Clean link profile. Backlink re-audits in March 2025, July 2025 and January 2026, with spammy links disavowed in Search Console.
  4. Authority building every month. Link outreach, competitor link research, business and local listings, review sites, question-and-answer sites, and image and video promotion, so more relevant sites point to the client.
  5. Ready for AI search. A competitor website review to close content gaps, and an llms.txt file in February 2026 to help AI tools understand the site’s key pages, alongside monthly ranking, traffic and Search Console reports.

GOOGLE RANKINGS

Top-10 Google rankings more than tripled after the expanded SEO programme started: 227 keywords in October 2024, 702 in October 2026

SE Ranking organic history, Australian database, October 2023 to October 2026.

Rankings rose in steps through 2025 as on-page fixes and links landed, then climbed again from mid-2026 to the highest level the site has recorded. Measured clicks from Google (Search Console) have held steady over the past year, so the gain so far is in visibility: more products and guides on page one and inside AI answers.

These are real buyer questions where an AI answer links to the client as a source:

  • Google AI Mode: “Where to buy ice packs?” and “Where can I buy gel packs?” list the client as an Australian supplier of commercial-grade gel ice packs for shipping.
  • Google AI Overviews: “first aid cold packs”, “medical ice packs” and “disposable cold packs” link to the client’s instant cold packs page; “cold packs for food” and “dry ice packs” link to its product pages.
  • Perplexity: “How do instant ice packs work?” and “What is in instant cold packs?” cite the client’s instant cold packs page.
  • ChatGPT: “How to use instant cold pack?” and “What is the gel in ice packs?” cite the client’s product page and FAQs.

When a buyer asks an AI assistant where to buy ice packs in Australia, the client is named alongside national retailers, as a specialist manufacturer.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR BUSINESS

Trade and wholesale buyers increasingly start with a search or an AI answer, not a sales call. The suppliers that answers quote are the ones that rank for the exact products and questions buyers type, keep their pages technically clean and are trusted by other sites.

That is the same work we did here, and we run it for clients in Australia, the UK, the US, the Middle East and Asia. Contact us and we will show you where your business appears in AI answers today, and where your competitors are cited instead.

SOURCES AND HOW WE MEASURED

  • Google rankings: SE Ranking organic history for the client’s domain, Australian database, monthly, October 2024 and October 2026. 702 top-10 keywords is the highest in the site’s history in that database.
  • AI citations: SE Ranking AI Search data for Australia (Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini), snapshot of 1 October 2026. Gemini recorded no links.
  • Clicks: Google Search Console for the client’s site, September 2025 compared with September 2026. We do not claim traffic growth in this study.
  • Work delivered: SEOValley’s monthly task lists and reports for the campaign, which started in May 2021 and was expanded in October 2024.
  • The client is not named, to protect their confidentiality. Details are available on request.
